Hi friends,

It’s been a minute. Sorry:)

Even though this newsletter is a practice for me to write more, sometimes, I just didn’t have the energy to write after a long day of work. March was just one long day of work.

That being said, I do have some fun updates. I started my garden, which, if anyone knows me, they know I get pretty excited about this every year. In fact, I get so excited every single year that I start planting things before the final frost because of the DAMN FALSE SPRING. Anyway, I usually get it right the second time around, and the garden is now underway.

I am planning 4 different tomatoes, 5 different peppers, eggplant, and herbs to start. Can’t wait to make salsa again.

Here is a pic of the gardens’ beginning phase:

The glory of gardening: hands in the dirt, head in the sun, heart with nature. To nurture a garden is to feed not just the body, but the soul.

Alfred Austin

Oh, and for the first time, I also started a wildflower/pollinator garden from seeds. I’ll send a picture when they are actually grown, but I am really excited about it. Gimme all the bees and butterflies.

Song of the week

This came on a random playlist, and I’d never heard of the artist but I liked this song.

What am I reading? What have I read?

My best friend and I decided to read a book together and since I am not nearly as quick a reader as she is, like not by a long shot (she reads over 100 books a year and I get through about 10), she recommended we read a chapter a week, which is v doable for me.

You can find this classic on Thriftbooks.com

'The horror, whatever it was, had not yet entirely spoiled that marvellous beauty'

Enthralled by his own exquisite portrait, Dorian Gray exchanges his soul for eternal youth and beauty. Influenced by his friend Lord Henry Wotton, he is drawn into a corrupt double life, indulging his desires in secret while remaining a gentleman in the eyes of polite society. Only his portrait bears the traces of his decadence. The Picture of Dorian Gray was a succès de scandale. Early readers were shocked by its hints at unspeakable sins, and the book was later used as evidence against Wilde at the Old Bailey in 1895.”

What am I smoking?

Something that pissed me off

Honestly, at the moment of writing this, I dont have a “pissed me off” story. So I am going to leave this blank and take the w:) But I wil show you something that left me uneasy lol.

What has been good and life-giving?

  1. Working in my garden again. Getting my hands dirty and planting things.

  2. I have successfully grown 7 veggie plants from seed, it was very last minute so it’s great to see them come through.

  3. I have been consistently hitting 7k steps a day for over a week now, and walking a minimum of 2 miles on intentional walks a day. I dont think Im too big, but I would like to lose a little bit of weight for my own health, and I am down 12 lbs since November.

  4. Melissa and I started a hiking group to hike together once a month. We had our first hike this month, and it was so much fun. What was better is we went to get drinks after and had some really good conversations around the situations happening in the world and America, and it was refreshing and good for my soul to hear from intelligent, like-minded individuals. Here’s a pic of the crew below:

Goals for the week?

  1. Keep trying for 5 bullseyes. I have gotten 3 so far in one shooting.

  2. Finish chapter 2 of Dorian Gray.

  3. Go to sleep before midnight at least during the work week.

Thanks for reading, and of course, no pressure to stay subscribed :)
